Junior Faculty Scholar Awards
Junior Faculty Scholar Awards are offered annually by the Department of Medicine. These awards provide competitive funding for research assistant professors and assistant professors whose primary research areas are basic or clinical research and have significant child care or other family responsibilities that make career advancement particularly challenging.
The Junior Faculty Scholar Awards provide support of $35,000 per year for two consecutive years to enable young faculty to hire technical research support staff and/or fund protected research time to facilitate their advancement during vulnerable periods in their careers.
Since its establishment in 2008, the Junior Faculty Scholar Award program has supported more than 20 faculty, many of whom were successful in receiving promotions and/or tenure within the Department.
